Glass Reactor Port Sizes and Joints Explained

The tables below list glass-reactor port specifications recorded in the UnionClay technical documentation, set out by structure and capacity band — the port sizes differ by band, and larger single-layer units use a different lid-flange size again. See the single-layer and double-layer jacketed ranges for the models themselves.

Notes: “None (no such opening)” means the specification sheet records no such opening for that band — small double-layer units and the 1–5 L single-layer range have no separate PTFE-sealed lid flange in the sheet. “Not recorded” means the extracted specification sheet does not state it; ask us rather than assuming. Port details for the 200 L and 150 L single-layer models are not recorded in the extracted sheet. Stainless steel reactors use millimetre flange sizes (e.g. φ40/φ50 mm stirring flanges), a different naming system from the # joints above.

Port Questions

What size is the stirring port on a small reactor?

It depends on the structure and band: 50# on 5 L double-layer units, 40# on 1–3 L double-layer and on all 1–5 L single-layer units, and 50# on 5–50 L triple-layer units. Read the band column that matches your model.

Can I swap a lid, funnel or condenser between two reactors?

The port sizes differ by structure and capacity band, and the specifications do not establish accessory interchangeability. Send both model numbers and the part details via the contact page for confirmation.
